Advocacy

An Ally in Your Corner

The California Alliance of Child and Family Services exists to advocate for an aggressive legislative and regulatory agenda on behalf of its member agencies and the children, youth and families they serve.

We’re here to knock on doors at the state Legislature, regulatory and administrative agencies and the governor’s office. We have the time to monitor the state budget and lobby both for and against legislation. We have experts to take up your fight in political circles, to conscientiously support efforts that improve the lives of children and families and to vigorously oppose potentially harmful legislative and administrative actions.

It’s not a failing to admit that these might not be strengths in your individual agency. After all, you have the hands-on responsibility to get in the trenches and make a difference. And your financial resources belong in the community, helping the children, youth and families you serve.

California Alliance’s staff maintains effective working relationships with officials in key state departments, including Social Services, Health Care Services, Education, and Public Health. We meet regularly with departmental representatives to ensure fair interpretation and application of laws and regulations that impact member agencies like yours. We work collaboratively with county-focused organizations such as the County Welfare Directors Association, the County Behavioral Health Directors Association of California and the Chief Probation Officers Association to impact policy at the local level.

The California Alliance is a member of Family Focused Treatment Association, Child Welfare League of America, Alliance for Strong Families and Communities, National Organization of State Associations for Children, National Association of Private Special Education Centers, National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare and California Council of Community Behavioral Health Agencies. We also work in partnership with other advocacy organizations including the Alliance for Children’s Rights, Association of Community Human Services Agencies, California Association of Adoption Agencies, Children Now, Children’s Law Center, California Council of Community Mental Health Agencies, California Youth Connection, California Alliance of Caregivers, Children’s Law Center, National Center for Youth Law, John Burton Advocates for Youth and Young Minds Advocacy. .

Put our connections to work for you.
